Alexis also worked as a Kindergarten Instructional Aid at Ballico Elementary School where she gained valuable experience and knowledge in classroom management and lesson planning. Her passion for working with children stems from a variety of experiences- including being a Math Tutor, volunteering at Project R.I.D.E, coaching through Sports 4 Learning, and working at the Children’s Center at Sac State. She has been working/volunteering with children between TK and 5th grade for 6 years. in Child Development and her minor in Education from Sacramento State University. She is from Winton, Ca, and in May 2020, Alexis received her B.A. Darlene can be reached at AlexisĪlexis Becerra is a current graduate student in the Teacher Education Program, where she is pursuing her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential and her Master’s Degree in Education. These experiences validated her desire to become a teacher and fed her passion for working with disadvantaged youth. After graduation, Darlene worked as a tutor and assisted 2nd and 3rd graders in navigating through online learning. Also, Darlene completed 80 volunteer hours at Harding University Partnership School in Santa Barbara as a pre-professional.
During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a Youth Development Professional at the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara. in Spanish with minors in applied psychology and educational studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Darlene, a first-generation college graduate, earned her B.A. candidate in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, pursuing her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Once graduated, Nicole looks forward to teaching in classrooms and being an advocate for special education. She received a BA in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies at California Lutheran University in the winter of 2020. Nicole Aponte is a graduate student pursuing her Masters of Education and her Education Specialist Credential in mild to moderate disabilities through UCSB's TEP program. He hopes to use his bilingualism to serve Spanish speaking families who have been underserved. Efrain has a desire to serve and advocate for families in the disabled community. He completed his undergraduate studies in Sociology at California State University Northridge. Efrain Alvarez is a first-generation Mexican-American graduate student pursuing his Masters of Education, as well as an educational specialist credential in moderate to severe disabilities at UCSB’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
